Advertising Guidelines

The rules for banner ads on Directory For USA: honest claims, banned content, landing pages, image sizes, and what happens when an ad breaks them.

These guidelines apply to every banner ad on Directory For USA. They keep ads useful and safe for the people who see them. By buying an ad on Advertise, you agree to follow them and our Terms of Use.

Be honest

Claims must be true and something you can back up. No fake prices, fake discounts or "limited time" offers that aren't real.
Don't pretend to be another business, a government agency or Directory For USA, and don't use other brands' names or logos without permission.
Don't make your ad look like a system message, warning, download button or anything other than an ad.

Content that isn't allowed

Adult or sexually suggestive content, including dating services with a sexual focus.
Gambling, betting, lotteries and casino games.
Weapons, ammunition, explosives and their accessories.
Tobacco, vaping and e-cigarette products, and recreational drugs or drug paraphernalia.
Cryptocurrency schemes, "get rich quick" offers, multi-level marketing and other high-risk financial offers.
"Miracle" health claims: products or treatments promising cures, guaranteed weight loss or results that can't be proven.
Hateful, violent, shocking or discriminatory content.
Counterfeit goods, or anything illegal or that promotes illegal activity.

Your landing page

The page your ad links to must match the ad: the same business, product or offer.
It must work, load properly and be safe to visit.
No malware, unwanted downloads, pop-up traps, hidden redirects or sending visitors somewhere different from what the ad shows.
Don't change the landing page after your ad goes live to show something these guidelines don't allow.

Image requirements

Each ad spot has its own banner size, shown when you choose the spot. When you upload your banner, its size is checked automatically, and a banner that doesn't fit the spot is refused, so you can fix it before paying. Use clear, readable text and good-quality images.

Where ads don't appear

Listings on a Featured plan don't show ads from other businesses on their listing page.

Enforcement

Ads go live as soon as payment is complete. We may pause or remove any ad that breaks these guidelines or our Terms of Use, or that we find misleading or harmful. Ads removed for a violation are not refunded. If you think we got it wrong, contact us.

Available ad spots, sizes and current prices are listed on Advertise. Prices can change, so check there before you buy.
