Why Do I Need A Prenup? Prenuptial agreements, or prenups for short, are contracts that two people enter into before getting married and can cover a variety of different and sometimes sensitive topics. Whether the couple is splitting up their personal property, dividing debts and assets during the marriage, or deciding who gets what in the event of divorce, no one likes to think about these things until they happen. When it comes to prenups, there are many benefits for every couple to consider taking the time to create a plan. Whether you have been married before or are getting married for the first time, there is good reason to have a prenuptial agreement. However, when it comes to drafting a prenuptial agreement, you might need a lawyer.
