We are about patient education regarding relatively comparable choices and treatment options between stent procedures and heart surgery. Recent advancements in stent technology and stenting techniques now provide a viable nonsurgical method of treating complex coronary artery disease that traditionally may have required Coronary artery bypass graft/open heart surgery (CABG/ OHS). We match patients advised Coronary Bypass Surgery with nearby Interventional Cardiologists who are Physicians Par excellence� (PPEx�) for complex coronary stenting and in most cases can achieve results comparable to surgery using nonsurgical techniques. Reasons for a recommendation of CABG/OHS instead of Coronary stenting/PCI are complex including: * Conflicting scientific data confusing even for the average health care provider. * Widely varying cardiologist expertise and comfort level to stent multiple complex coronary blockages especially if necessary with the safe use of a miniature cardiac assist device. * A tendency for medical guidelines at times to lag behind scientific progress by years. * Generally a strong push by most hospitals for on staff cardiologists to adhere to the years old guidelines favoring CABG/OHS. * A prevailing hospital policy of enforcing the guideline recommended �Heart Team� approach that in its current form is biased towards CABG over Stents.
