Where is Oceano?

You’re on California’s Central Coast in Oceano. But this area is commonly referred to as the Five Cities, comprised of Oceano, Grover Beach, Arroyo Grande, Pismo Beach and Shell Beach. Only if you know the color of the street signs used by each city would you be able to tell when you leave one and enter the other. If you drive longer than 7-10 minutes in any direction, you’ve left the Five Cities, so wherever you are you’re close to everything the Five Cities has to offer.

The pier at Pismo and the streets leading up to it are the hustling, bustling center of the Five Cities beach scene. There have been some nice recent improvements adjacent to the pier, and there are many restaurants, bars, shops and even a bowling alley and other game shops. If you want the crowds and the nightlife, this is the place to visit. But If you like it a little quieter, maybe you visit the pier area during the week and avoid it on the weekend.
